Education and skill building are key components to preventing substance use disorders in our community. We believe that when communities are equipped with these resources, we create a healthier environment for all. Our mission is to provide resources and educational materials that are shown to be effective and build up protective factors.
Whether you are seeking information for yourself or on behalf of your organization everyone has a role to play in substance use prevention. Explore our available trainings, programs, and resources that can be provided free of charge.
The New Vista prevention center offers the PAVe Parent Training to parents, caretakers, teachers, and other adult stakeholders. It covers health harms, causes of the youth vaping crisis and reasons teens vape, signs and devices to recognize, as well as tips, resources, and support to help children avoid or quit using tobacco products.
CATCH My Breath is an evidence-based youth nicotine vaping prevention program that will provide your students with the skills to resist peer pressure and media influences to try e-cigarettes. The sessions can be taught during a normal class period, during homeroom, student enrichment time, after-school, or at other non-school activities and clubs.
Too Good for Drugs is dedicated to empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges of growing up in today’s world. The program is designed to mitigate risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Through a series of engaging and interactive lessons, we aim to foster a safe and supportive environment for students to thrive.
Properly disposing of unused or expired medication is important to prevent accidental poisoning, environmental contamination, and drug misuse. Find resources in your community to help dispose of medication and prevent opioid overdoses.
Kentucky's Youth Substance Use Prevention Skills Training (YSUPS) targets youth ages 12-25. This training introduces prevention, provides information about various substances, and allows youth to find their voice by fostering new skills. Topics include presentation skills, media production, working with the press, creating opportunities for policy change, substance specific information, grant writing, and establishing funding streams to support their cause. This training leaves youth with skills to allow their voices to be heard and empowers them to be community change makers.
