If you or someone you love is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, New Vista is here to help — day or night. Our emergency services team provides immediate, compassionate support for adults, children, and families across Central Kentucky. Whether you are facing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, substance use concerns, or another behavioral health emergency, trained crisis professionals are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the New Vista 24-Hour Helpline at 1.800.928.8000.
Crisis Response Team
New Vista’s Crisis Response Team offers rapid assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Available 24/7, 365 days a year, the team can respond in the community to provide immediate support and help individuals access the safest and most appropriate level of care.
Crisis services include:
• Immediate crisis evaluation and assessment
• Stabilization strategies and safety planning
• Short-term intensive crisis intervention
• Clinical consultation and support
• Referral and coordination for acute behavioral healthcare services
• Connection to ongoing mental health, substance use, and recovery support

Crisis Walk-In Services
Adults, children, and families experiencing a mental health crisis can access same-day support through New Vista’s Walk-In services at locations throughout Central Kentucky. Walk-In hours allows individuals to walk in and be seen by a therapist without a scheduled appointment during regular business hours.
Our emergency services team and 24-Hour Helpline can also assist with scheduling urgent appointments and connecting individuals to the right level of care as quickly as possible.
Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC)
New Vista’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) in Lexington provides walk-in behavioral health support for adults experiencing urgent mental health or substance use concerns that do not require hospitalization. The BHUC bridges the gap between outpatient care and the emergency room by offering same-day access to behavioral health professionals in a welcoming clinical setting.
Services may include assessment, stabilization, short-term intervention, medication support, referrals, and connections to ongoing treatment and recovery services. The BHUC is designed for individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, emotional distress, mood changes, suicidal thoughts, or substance use challenges who need support quickly but may not need emergency room care.
The BHUC is located at 1351 Newtown Pike in Lexington and offers rapid access to care Monday through Friday.
Substance Use & Overdose Emergencies
New Vista also provides emergency support and guidance for substance use crises. If you suspect someone is experiencing an overdose, call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room. Risk factors for overdose can include mixing substances, changes in tolerance, using unfamiliar substances, or using alone.
If available, administer Narcan, provide rescue breathing, and never leave the person alone. New Vista’s 24-Hour Helpline can also provide overdose information, support, and connections to treatment and recovery resources.
24/7 Crisis Support & 988
In addition to the New Vista 24-Hour Helpline, individuals can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support any time of day or night. 988 provides immediate access to trained crisis counselors for mental health, substance use, and emotional distress concerns.
