New Vista opened a new First Steps office in Elizabethtown in July 2020, offering early intervention services for children with a developmental delay. The First Steps program, previously operated by the Lincoln Trail District Health Department, is now part of the New Vista First Steps team.
First Steps is an early intervention program serving children from birth to age three who have a developmental delay or a medical condition known to cause a delay. First Steps staff members provide free screenings and determine eligibility for services as well as coordinate services for families. All services are provided through telehealth video sessions at this time to ensure the safety of children, their families and First Steps staff. Parents and caregivers have the opportunity to learn about child development and continue activities to promote their own child’s development at home.
