MAY 4, 2022
LEXINGTON, KY — This May, New Vista reflects on the increased need for mental health resources as we continue to understand the full impact of the pandemic on Central Kentuckians of all ages.
It’s clear many are struggling with their mental health and don’t know where to turn. In February 2021, 43.6 percent of adult Kentuckians reported symptoms of anxiety or depression and 22.8 percent were unable to get needed counseling or therapy, according to data from NAMI.
New Vista provides psychiatry and therapy services, both in-person and via telehealth, crisis outreach, support for youth and young adults experiencing first-episode psychosis, substance use treatment and other mental health services to Central Kentuckians, regardless of ability to pay. There is help available and this Mental Health Awareness Month, we can all help to spread that message.
New Vista encourages community partners to get involved this month by sharing resources, wearing green, the international symbol of mental health awareness and lending a listening ear to someone in need.
