Do you have a teen or young adult transitioning to adulthood? Has it been hard to figure out how to teach the skill sets needed? Cody Clark is a 27-year-old magician and autism self-advocate, and he can relate to these challenges. New Vista is partnering with Cody for “Magical Monday in May,” which are magic-infused virtual sessions that we are offering free of charge to participants. Any individual with a disability or their loved ones are welcome to attend the presentations.
Cody will teach participants how he advocates for himself, the essential skills for work and home, explore self-employment and teach them how to make their lives as magical as possible! Check out the sessions below and register for one, two or all four sessions.
A Different Way of Thinking – Autism Advocacy Magic Show
In his 30-minute virtual magic show, Cody Clark combines magic, comedy and storytelling to share what living with autism is like. Starting with his initial diagnosis and ending with his college graduation, Cody places his magic routines inside common experiences to show how autism makes him different, yet similar to, most people. By the end, you’ll think quite differently about the art of magic and about autism!

Revealing the Secrets Behind Essential Skills
Cody breaks the magician’s code by revealing some secret, but not all of his magic tricks! Instead, he will be sharing the secrets behind essential life skills. These can seem harder for disabled people, which is why Cody offers simple, easy-to-remember techniques for personal management skills, handling conflicts, and taking care of your emotions. Your students will learn about the essential skills needed for work and home.

They will discover interests, learn how to plug into communities for extra support, and the benefits to being open to trying new things.
