The Role of Faith Leaders in Opioid Misuse Prevention

Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training will provide an overview of opioids, how to recognize if someone is suffering with an overdose. The training will also provide each participant with a free supply of Narcan and instruction on how to use it safe and effectively. Focus on what role faith leaders can have for those at risk of developing an opioid use disorder and how faith leaders can collaborate more with prevention efforts.

This training will provide an overview of opioids, how to recognize if someone is suffering with an overdose. As well as the connection between opioids and suicide. The training will also provide each participant with a free supply of Narcan and instruction on how to use it safe and effectively. Focus on how opioids impact children, city departments, and communities.

Ethics for Social Workers

Thursday, April 29th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This course focuses on the legal and ethical responsibilities of social workers. Particular focus will be given to the KY SW Code of Ethical Conduct as outlined in 201 KAR 23:080. Informed consent, privileged communication, abuse reporting will be discussed in the context of practicing in a safe and clinically sound manner.

Adult Peer Support Training

Monday, May 3rd, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

New Vista is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present this 30-hour program offering the curriculum required to become a certified Adult Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky. Trainings are open to anyone in recovery from mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder interested in working as a PSS. This training is virtual via zoom, video and audio participation are mandatory. Seating is limited and we do not keep a waitlist.

Home Visitation Safety Training

Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This interactive course is designed to present best practices to professionals who are conducting site/home visits.  The visit will be broken into 5 distinct areas where an in-depth discussion will occur challenging the current mindset of those engaging in this service.

Instruction will focus on preparing our workforce to have a safe, successful visit and delivery of services.  In addition to the 5 Critical Areas, this course will introduce the study of body language and how our professional communication is imperative for safety when managing difficult people, those who are angry, and/or those suffering from Substance Abuse Disorder, and other scenarios where our safety may be in jeopardy.

Law for Kentucky LPCC

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training is facilitated by an LPCC and meets the requirements for continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. LPCC’s and LPCA’s will learn about the Kentucky laws and regulations pertaining to their license and how the Kentucky Licensed Professional Counseling Board operates. This includes licensing requirements, definitions, educational requirements, supervision and supervisor requirements, and codes of conduct.
