Parents Against Vaping and Prime for Life-Zero Tolerance (PAVE)

Vaping Companies & Big Tobacco Want to Hook Our Kids.
WE WANT TO STOP THEM.

The New Vista prevention center offers the PAVe Parent Training to parents, caretakers, teachers, and other adult stakeholders. It covers health harms, causes of the youth vaping crisis and reasons teens vape, signs and devices to recognize, as well as tips, resources, and support to help children avoid or quit using tobacco products. The youth vaping epidemic is urgent and evolving. PAVe is the parent voice on this issue. There is a huge information gap to bridge among parents, educators, and other adults to better prepare them to support kids to avoid or quit vaping.

We are committed to empowering parents, caretakers, teachers, and other adult stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to combat youth vaping. Our PAVe Parent Training program offers comprehensive education on the health harms, causes, and signs of the youth vaping crisis, along with practical tips and resources to help children avoid or quit using tobacco products.

What is PAVe Parent Training?

PAVe (Parents Against Vaping e-cigarettes) Parent Training is a specialized program designed to address the growing concern of youth vaping. Our training sessions provide adult stakeholders with essential information and strategies to effectively support young people in making healthier choices.

Key Components of the Training

  1. Health Harms: The training covers the significant health risks associated with vaping, including the impact on respiratory and cardiovascular health, potential for addiction, and long-term consequences. Participants learn about the specific dangers posed by e-cigarettes and how they differ from traditional tobacco products.
  2. Causes of the Youth Vaping Crisis: Understanding the root causes of the youth vaping epidemic is crucial. The training explores factors such as targeted marketing by tobacco companies, social media influence, and the availability of flavored e-cigarettes. This insight helps participants grasp the broader context of the issue.
  3. Reasons Teens Vape: We delve into the various reasons why teens are attracted to vaping, from peer pressure and curiosity to misconceptions about safety and stress relief. By understanding these motivations, parents and educators can better address the underlying issues.
  4. Signs and Devices to Recognize: Identifying the signs of vaping and recognizing the devices used is a critical part of prevention. The training provides detailed information on the latest vaping products, common hiding spots, and behavioral changes that may indicate vaping.
  5. Tips and Resources: Participants receive practical tips on how to have effective conversations with teens about vaping, set clear expectations, and enforce rules. The training also includes access to a wealth of resources, such as educational materials, support groups, and professional help options.
  6. Support for Quitting: For those already using tobacco products, the training offers guidance on how to support children in quitting. This includes information on cessation programs, counseling services, and effective strategies to overcome nicotine addiction.

Why Choose PAVe Parent Training?

  • Comprehensive and Current: Our training is based on the latest research and best practices in tobacco prevention and cessation.
