New Vista Academy offers a range of classes and learning opportunities for behavioral health professionals. From continuing education courses that meet state licensing board requirements to state-approved curriculums for targeted case managers, community support associates and peer support specialists, we offer options to fit your needs and schedule. Adult Peer Support Training

Monday, August 2nd, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

New Vista is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present this 30-hour program offering the curriculum required to become a certified Adult Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky. Trainings are open to anyone in recovery from mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder interested in working as a PSS. This training is virtual via zoom, video and audio participation are mandatory. Seating is limited and we do not keep a waitlist.

Advancing Skills in Motivational Interviewing

Ethics for Social Workers

Thursday, September 9th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This course focuses on the legal and ethical responsibilities of social workers. Particular focus will be given to the KY SW Code of Ethical Conduct as outlined in 201 KAR 23:080. Informed consent, privileged communication, abuse reporting will be discussed in the context of practicing in a safe and clinically sound manner.

Targeted Case Management Training Core, SMI, SUD

Monday, September 20th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training is state-approved for Targeted Case Management certification and includes the required 12-hour Core Competency Curriculum for the training of Behavioral Health Targeted Case Managers in Kentucky, as well as additional specialty topics addressing adults with Serious Mental Illness, and adults with Substance Use Disorder.

Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science; and one year of full-time employment experience working directly with individuals in a human service setting, post-degree. A master's degree may substitute for the year experience.  

**You must select each competency individually when you register. CORE is listed as the top option, and SUD, and SMI are listed as "Add Ons" below it. If you wish to register for SUD, and/or SMI click on "add ons" and select all that apply.**

Motivational Interviewing Supervision

Thursday, October 14th, 2021 - Virtual training via Zoom

This one day workshop will help participants provide effective supervision for Motivational Interviewing (MI) use. Participants will apply a partnering-for-change evaluation framework, use mirrored feedback in practice activities and prepare coaching plans. The session will also briefly explore incorporating MI into their ways to enhance and sustain MI practice in their teams. This training is virtual via zoom, video and audio participation are mandatory.
