Join us for New Vista’s Illuminate Conference where you will have a opportunity to hear from some of the leaders in the field of behavioral health. Preshuslee Thompson, an expert in the field of cultural equality in behavioral health, will be presenting her topic Understanding and Implementing a Cultural Humility Lens into Clinical Practice at 9am then we will hear from Drs. Sandra Medley and Allison Simpson, leaders in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Applications of The Emotion Regulation Skills System for Cognitively Challenged Clients: A DBT-Informed Approach by Julie F. Brown at 1pm. Further session descriptions will be available through the registration link which will open on July 1st.
NOTE: To attain CEU credit, attendees must sign in these trainings. Certificates will be sent out the following week. No partial credit will be awarded.
PRESHUSLEE THOMPSON, LMSW: Preshuslee Thompson, Clinical and Occupational Social Worker, is the Founder and CEO of Preseli Equity Group Consulting LLC. Preseli Equity Group is a social enterprise consulting firm committed to conceptualizing, constructing, and championing an equitable future through fostering collective healing and respect for human dignity. Through Preseli Equity Group Preshuslee facilitates trainings, builds curriculums and assessments, and offers consulting to organizations committed to creating an equitable and accountable workplace culture.
SANDRA MEDLEY, Ph. D.: Sandra Medley, Ph.D. is the Director of Behavioral and Psychology Services at Oakwood New Vista, Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Medley has provided services at Oakwood New Vista since 2006. In addition to supervising the clinical services of the Behavior and Psychology Department staff, she also provides direct behavioral treatment, mental health counseling, and behavioral/cognitive/psychological assessment services to both inpatient and outpatient clients with intellectual disabilities. Dr. Medley received specialized training in autism assessment and developed an outpatient autism assessment clinic for both children and adults. She also headed an inpatient group treatment program for clients at Oakwood New Vista utilizing the Skills System curriculum by Julie Brown. She is a licensed psychologist and earned her doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky.
ALLISON SIMPSON, Psy. D., HSP: Dr. Allison Simpson is a licensed clinical psychologist who works at Oakwood, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. She earned her doctorate in psychology at Eastern Kentucky University and completed an internship in health service psychology at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in Pennsylvania. Dr. Simpson specializes in serving individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities through providing behavior supports, counseling, and assessment.
